Sankat Mochan Mandir, one of the oldest Hanuman temples in Varanasi, is located on the southern outskirts of Varanasi city between Assi Ghat and Banaras Hindu University. Sankat Mochan established by Saint Tulsidas is very famous among the followers of Lord Hanuman. The word ‘Sankat Mochan’ means ‘one who helps to remove sufferings’. It is said that his sufferings go away by visiting this temple.
