The global chlorine capacity was valued at 90.35 mtpa in 2021. It is expected to increase at an AAGR of more than 1% from 2021 to 2026. China, the US, Germany, India, and Japan are the key countries in the world accounting for over 75% of the total chlorine capacity. Out of them, China has the highest active chlorine capacity. The country is expected to lead chlorine capacity additions by 2026, followed by India and US. There are 488 active chlorine plans and 42 planned and announced plants in the works.
