When looking at the Soviet Union economy as an example of a communist economy, the key factor to understand is the extent to which the Soviets confiscated most of the personal wealth of the population. While this may have resulted in a more equal distribution of wage incomes, it is still important to remember that most consumers of goods and services were privileged over others. Despite this, an average adult in the Soviet Union could count on a monthly income and access to goods and services based on their social status.
